Concert agency “FBI” informs: May 25th 2009 is the date, when one of the modern day concert groups — the famous British band “Depeche Mode”, which has gained a cult status not only in Latvia but also elsewhere in Europe and the US — will perform in “Skonto” football stadium in Riga.

“The wait is over,” comments Artis Dvarionas, DJ of “Radio SWH”. After few years of silence today, October 6, a press conference will take place at Berlin Olympic Stadium where the group's latest tour “Tour of the Universe” is going to be announced. The concert in Latvia will take place within this tour. During the press conference, members of the band, Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher, will reveal their plans regarding the forthcoming record and the tour. It’s now known that the conference will be attended by several thousands of people — journalists and ordinary fans from all over the world.

The new “Depeche Mode” tour with more than 30 open-air concerts will take place at the biggest European venues and this will be one of the most grandiose tours in group’s history and in 2009 overall. The stage will be set up by the famous artist and photographer Anton Corbijn, who is the music video director of many “Depeche Mode” and “U2” songs and a scene-designer for the previous band's tour. Within the tour’s concerts, the group will perform using only their own equipment, thus guaranteeing a show of the highest quality.

In April next year, “Depeche Mode” will release their 12th long-awaited studio album. The first single from the new album is to be expected already in February. Songs from the new album will be performed also in Riga.

“Depeche Mode” is considered to be one of the best concert groups. Each one of their performance is very popular. Last tour was sold out in most of the countries where “Depeche Mode” performed, including the Baltic States. Previous concert of “Depeche Mode” occurred in 2006 within the “Touring the Angel” tour and took place in “Arēna Rīga”, which was sold out completely long before the concert date. Overall, more than 2 million tickets for 88 tour concerts were sold.

Representatives of the world’s leading concert agency “Live Nation” say: “Depeche Mode” can be proud of their loyal army of fans and the number of their supporters is growing after each tour, reaching a peak before the forthcoming stadium tour in the summer of 2009. “Depeche Mode” concert attendance figures are becoming more and more impressive and it’s expected that the new tour will be an event as amazing as the performance of “U2” or “Metallica”.”

“Depeche Mode” has influenced many popular musicians. The second vocalist Mike Shinoda from “Linkin Park” admits: ““Depeche Mode” is one of the most influential groups of all times. Their music is an inspiration to me.”

The famous British group “Coldplay” has created their own version of the video for the “Depeche Mode” hit “Enjoy the Silence”, which is the second video of their single from the newest album “Viva la Vida”. On their website, the musicians say: “This is our attempt at a video cover version, made out of love for “Depeche Mode” and the genius of Anton Corbijn.”

It is worth to mention that “Depeche Mode” follows the newest trends in technologies, and in cooperation with “Mute/EMI Records” the concert in Riga will be recorded so that it will be possible to purchase it in a CD format.
